Description

Following guidance from Government, we have suspended all our face to face services.

However, we are still taking referrals and will contact clients to offer help and advice by telephone.  Please can you make sure anyone you refer to us is aware we will only be able to offer telephone or digital assistance at this time.

Universal Credit is our fastest growing advice issue. Since the roll out began we’ve helped nearly 190,000 people across England and Wales to move to the new system.

Over the last few years we’ve also worked together as a service to urge the government to fix the problems people are having with Universal Credit. We’ve achieved some important changes for our clients so far including:

  • Making the phone line free

  • Reducing the time people are waiting for their first payment

  • Securing extra funding for Universal Credit in this year’s budget

  • Changes local Citizens Advice have secured in the way Universal Credit is rolled out and delivered locally

Improving the support available to people making a claim is a vital part of this work. We’ve designed the Help to Claim service to address that need. It offers support with making a new claim - from starting a claim to receiving the first full payment. The service is available online, over the phone and in person.

More about Universal Credit

Help to Claim is a completely new service. It replaces assisted digital and personal budgeting support from local authorities, which will no longer exist as of April 2019.

This is significant for the people who need us. Universal Credit is set to affect 7.2 million households by the end of the roll out and this new funding will enable us to help more people get the support they need to make and manage their claim.

Description

Drop In Services for young people in South Ribble. This service is for young people aged 16 to 25 who are thinking about leaving or have left home for whatever reason, we can help. Many young people come to us in a crisis when they have nowhere to stay and that is fine but people often don’t realise that it is good to seek help earlier so we can explain what a young person’s options may be.

The Drop In Service is wide ranging and we offer practical and emotional support for young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Young people would normally drop in without an appointment but at the moment (due to Covid 19) if we receive a referral or enquiry, where possible we would contact them on the phone. We are still seeing young people at our centre in Leyland (using goverment guidlines) where this is not possible.
