Description

Drop In Services for young people in South Ribble. This service is for young people aged 16 to 25 who are thinking about leaving or have left home for whatever reason, we can help. Many young people come to us in a crisis when they have nowhere to stay and that is fine but people often don’t realise that it is good to seek help earlier so we can explain what a young person’s options may be.  The Drop In Service is wide ranging and we offer practical and emotional support for young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Young people would normally drop in without an appointment but at the moment (due to Covid 19) if we receive a referral or enquiry, where possible we would contact them on the phone. We are still seeing young people at our centre in Leyland (using goverment guidlines) where this is not possible.

We understand the cost of living is impacting everyone and that we are all looking at ways to maximise our clients income, but our waiting time for an appointment is around 4 weeks or more at this time. Before referring a client for a benefits check, please assist them to undertake a calculation using one of the calculators at this link, as it will show what entitlement might be in scope. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/benefits-introduction/what-benefits-can-i-get/ If you are making a referral for assistance with completing an Attendance Allowance, Child DLA or PIP form, please ensure the client has the appropriate claim form and supporting medical evidence before requesting support from us. As part of your ongoing support for the client, you can make a referral to our Energy Advice team for helping your client to apply for a fuel voucher. In the referral we need: the client's name, address, mobile number and email address (if available), details of the support you are giving the client and why they need a fuel voucher. If your client wants to know if they can claim Pension Credit, please assist them to undertake the calculation at this link. https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator If your clients wants a better off calculation or to apply for Universal Credit, please assist them to look at this link. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/claiming/helptoclaim/ If you client has an issue with a product or service they have bought, please assist them to contact the Consumer Helpline. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/get-more-help/if-you-need-more-help-about-a-consumer-issue/ Quite simply, we are here to help the people of Lancashire with the problems they face.
